RAI Certified Authentic Shelby GT500 sells for $290,000.00 ($319,000.00) January 21, 2007 at the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.
January 23, 2007 On the day after Barrett-Jackson sold a one-of-a-kind 427 Shelby Cobra for five million dollars, an RAI authenticated, certified, and guaranteed GT-500 belonging to Larry Peck of Buckley, Washington went on the auction block. Spirited bidding pushed the value of the car to its final sale price of $290,000.00. With the sales commission added, the final tally was $319,000.00, the highest price paid for all of the GT-500's sold during the auction. The owner stated that his ability to tell prospective buyers that his car had been authenticated and the authentication guaranteed by an impartial, independent company, helped bring him that price. Car buyers after the sale also agreed that the RAI guaranteed authentication set this car apart from other similar, but unauthenticated vehicles. The prices proved these statements. Of the 20 GT500 Shelbys sold at the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction, the RAI authenticated car received the highest price of the group. (Barrett car list and prices available upon request.)
